As we have read articles and watched the news over the last few days, we see events unfolding in Europe and Asia that are greatly troubling. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine will be devastating to that nation and has the potential to upset lives in countries around the world. Of course, nations and countries are filled with people and many of those people are our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
As we sit in our anxieties at imagined outcomes from a world power flexing its muscles with another giant waiting in the wings, I want to invite you to join us in a service of prayer to and worship of the sovereign God before whom “the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales” (Is 40:15). Please join us Sunday night, February 27, at 6:00 PM in the worship center for a night of prayer for all that is unfolding before us on the world’s stage.
Do you not know? Do you not hear?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?
It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,
and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;
who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;
who brings princes to nothing,
and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness (Is 40:21-23).
