Middle School Ministry is geared to aid families with students in 6th through 8th grade. We strive to help middle schoolers and their families catch a vision of Christ the King and their place in His work. Some of the ways we go about that are described below.
On Wednesday Evenings Middle School and High School Students meet at 6:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. We call it "The Waypoint" because this is a time for the students to pause on their journey to reach deep into God's Word and find the truth contained within it. Together we have a few activities and worship together through song, scripture, and prayer. Following the corporate time together, the High School Students move to the Annex (142) and Middle School students stay in the Multi-Purpose Room for a focused, age-appropriate Bible Study with hands-on and video elements. Throughout a three year cycle we cover topics such as: Christ the King, how to study the Bible, the basic truths of Christianity, the basics of living out our faith, and a survey of the Old and New Testaments.
Sunday School Meets at 9:45 on Sunday Mornings. For more information about Sunday School classes for Middle School Students, click here.
We feel that one of the best ways to strengthen Kingdom bonds is to strengthen friendships and give students an opportunity to experience life together. To that end, we offer fun fellowship events throughout the year. We also feel that it is essential for students to have an outlet to serve those around them for the glory of our King. To that end, we offer outreach and service projects through our Sunday School classes.
Each year we host several retreats: 6th Grade Orientation, Fall Retreat, and DiscipleNow (or some other form of Spring retreat). Occasionally we also take a break in winter to ski and snowboard. These weekends away from the normal grind help students to experience the truth of God's Word in new and exciting ways.
Each summer we have two major trips: camp and a domestic mission trip. Our Middle School students have served as close as Asheville, NC and as far away as Cortez, CO. Summer camp is great for helping students look more like Jesus, and mission trips are a great opportunity for them to share Him with others. We typically stay close for both trips as it may be a first big trip away from the family for many students.
