    Apr 22nd, 2018
    All-day Event

Please join us in worship at 8:30 AM or 11:00 AM as Dr. Jeff Spry continues in the sermon series, Exodus: I Am The Lord. Sunday School begins at 9:45 AM.

    Exodus 8:20 - 9:12

8:20 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Rise up early in the morning and present yourself to Pharaoh, as he goes out to the water, and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 21 Or else, if you will not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants and your people, and into your houses. . . . 22 But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people dwell, so that no swarms of flies shall be there, that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.”’”

9:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. 2 For if you refuse to let them go and still hold them, 3 behold, the hand of the LORD will fall with a very severe plague upon your livestock that are in the field, the horses, the donkeys, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. 4 But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing of all that belongs to the people of Israel shall die.”’”

8 And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot from the kiln, and let Moses throw them in the air in the sight of Pharaoh. 9 It shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt.” 10 So they took soot from the kiln and stood before Pharaoh. And Moses threw it in the air, and it became boils breaking out in sores on man and beast. 11 . . . the boils came upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians.

    2018 Spring Semester – 10 Weeks

    March 7 – May 9

    Wise Words – Room 156

    Led by Jenny Armstrong

Communication is one of the very first things we learn to do. Most often our communication comes through words. What do your words say to non-believers? New believers?  In this class, we will look at how our words are viewed by others and evaluate our word choices so that in all we say and do, God is glorified.

Immerse: The Bible Reading Experience – Room 155

    Led by Skip Cartin

Cost of Immerse Reading Bible - $10

Dr. Cartin will lead this class through a survey of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 & 2 Samuel, and 1 & 2 Kings. The goal will be for each participant to read through these books for themselves, and then engage in a “book club” discussion, simply talking about what they’ve read in honest, unmediated conversations. It’s intentionally uncomplicated. There are no right or wrong answers and no workbooks. Instead, you will talk through questions like, “What stood out to you this week?” or “Was there anything confusing or troubling?”  By simply reading and then gathering once per week in “book club” style groups, you will have a place to voice your questions, talk about your concerns, and celebrate “aha!” moments together with others.

    Understanding & Answering Islam – Room 154

    Led by Van Dempsey

There are over three million Muslims living in the United States today. Soon, if not already, you will have Muslim neighbors and coworkers. Does the thought of reaching out to them with the gospel make you nervous? How can you effectively communicate the good news with such large theological differences? This class will focus on helping us to understand more about Islam and what Muslims believe.

Jeremiah – Despair of Exile: Hope of Return – Room 157

    Led by David Shoop

The prophet Jeremiah addressed the people of Judah and Jerusalem over a forty-year period leading up to the destruction of Jerusalem in 587 B.C. The book of Jeremiah addresses the exiles, especially those in Babylon, in the years after the catastrophe. And though the people lived with despair at the prospect of exile, they lived with a hope in a future return. In this class, we will see that Jeremiah is a book of the victory of God's love and grace. The book is a portrait of the future which we see fulfilled in the New Testament through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah.

The Letters of John – Room 151

    Led by Andy Lackey

What does it look like to “walk in the light, as he is in the light,” to truly live as a follower of Christ? This all-important question finds its answer in three letters from the apostle John. In these three letters penned by John, he lovingly teach us how to follow Jesus in open devotion to God. In this class, we will examine themes such as the divinity of Christ, love of others, spiritual rebirth, Jesus work on the cross, the work of the Spirit, and the danger of false teachers.
