Apologetics: Knowing Why You Believe and How to Share It

Room 155
Teacher: Chuck Edwards

Contrary to popular opinion, Christians are not supposed to “just have faith.” Instead, we are commanded to know what we believe and why we believe it, and know it well enough to give a reasonable defense (“apologetic”) to someone else. As 1 Peter 3:15 explains, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” This course will cover a broad range of issues, including the question of truth, reasons for God’s existence, the possibility of miracles, the reliability of the New Testament, the deity of Jesus Christ, and how we can know the Bible is true? We will discover not only why we believe but also how to share it with others in ways that open the discussion instead of end in debate.
