The book of Daniel is among the most well-known and beloved books in the Old Testament. Whether through memorable stories of a fiery furnace or a lion's den or though startling visions of beasts and kingdoms, the book of Daniel captures the imagination. However, though well-loved, the book is often difficult to understand. That Daniel contains two different genres, is written in two different languages, and contains prophecies unlike anything else in the Old Testament only further complicate the book. This study will attempt to untangle the interpretive knots of the book of Daniel through a careful reading of the text and guided discussion.
