The city of Corinth, with a population estimated a 200,000, was a boom-town comparable to San Francisco in the great gold rush. Strategically located with two busy harbors, Corinth became one of the leading commercial centers of the world. Not unexpectedly, Corinth also became known for luxurious and even sinful living. It was in a place like this that the grace of God appeared as Paul spent a year and half preaching the gospel. However, as people came into the church, some brought Corinth into the church with them. Their actions raised a lot of issues that Paul had to address. Those issues continue to be raised in churches today, even in ours
