During the five Sundays in October, we are studying The Five Solas. This week, we looked at Sola Fide (faith alone). The time prior to the Protestant Reformation was referred to as the dark ages. The light of the Gospel was shielded. Martin Luther sought to reveal the light of the Gospel and wrestled with certain questions like, "How can we stand before a just and holy God?"
Luther realizes in Romans, Paul is saying the righteousness of God is available to those who believe. This is a "gate to heaven". We cannot measure up only by ourselves, but BY grace THROUGH faith, Christ clothes us in righteousness.
A Biblical faith is a living faith, a lasting faith and a commitment. It involves not only just belief, but knowledge and a total surrender of our lives.
