Meet Our Members: The Andersons

Aaron and Rachelle Anderson have been married 15 years and have two children: Alexis, age 9, and Seth, age 7. They both were saved at a young age and attended church with their families every Sunday. Meeting at a singles bible study, they began dating, and were married in 2003.

They moved from Florida to Mooresville in 2014 to work in financial planning at DFS Advisors and immediately started looking for a new church. After visiting multiple churches, they heard about Western Avenue and decided to try it out. The first time they visited, Pastor Skip Cartin introduced himself and made them feel welcome; he even remembered who they were the following week which is difficult at churches the size of Western Avenue. The music was great (the choir sang Rachelle's favorite song!), people were friendly, the preaching was expository and biblical, and there was a vibrant children's ministry. They realized that the search was over; this was their new church.  They became members in 2015.

Aaron currently serves in the audio ministry, running the Facebook live and the radio feeds. Rachelle serves in the music ministry.  Both of their children attend Avenue Kids every week. One of the things they love most about the church is the emphasis placed on teaching children about God and doing it in such fun, creative ways. Alexis had been eagerly wanting to join a sports team, but when she found out that practices would be on Wednesdays, she backed out so that she wouldn't miss Avenue Kids. When a kid picks church over sports, you know that God is present in that church and his hand is guiding them in what they do. They are looking forward to what God has in store for us as we embark on the IGNITE initiative.
