As we work our way through Exodus, we've seen the progression of the 10 plagues. Through plagues 1, 2 and 3, we see God as a God of vengeance. In plagues 4, 5 and 6, we see a God who makes distinctions. In 7, 8 and 9, we see a God who is jealous for His glory. In plague 10, we see a God who saves through judgement.
God is sovereign over the future and time. He doesn't predict the future but tells exactly what will happen. Knowing God is sovereign over all things gives us comfort and encouragement. He fulfills His promises and will take care of you. He sees and knows and will provide. However, not always in our way.
Many things are difficult to understand. Why did every firstborn in Egypt die in the last plague? It seems like a cruel thing for God to do. God takes what Pharaoh has done to the Hebrew people personally. He doesn't have Moses or Aaron carry this one out, but He does Himself.
God can do whatever He wants and everything He does is right. God treats His people differently. Those who applied the blood of the lamb on their doorpost were spared. Those today who are saved by Jesus's blood are spared. We are to trust in the sacrifice of Christ. God saves through judgement.
Are you right with God through the blood of Jesus?
