We are starting 2018 off with a study through Exodus. Throughout this book we will study many familiar Bible stories. This Sunday, we looked at Exodus 1:1-7 and saw how Exodus is a sequel to Genesis. Some truths we learned included that the plan of God does not always work out the way we want it to. The Israelites were oppressed, beaten and persecuted. Back in Genesis 15, God told them this would happen. It was done for a purpose. You have to make your mind up now how you are going to face the difficulties that will come your way.
God's greatest purpose isn't to make you happy. He wants to make you holy. We see that with the Israelites as he makes them a holy, a set apart people.
God is working for a purpose and to tell his great story. He sets us free from the slavery of sin so we can serve him.
2018 Challenges: Serve Somebody and Tell Somebody
First of all, we want everyone in this church to serve somebody in 2018 in some way. Whether that's through volunteering with Good News Clubs, going on a mission trip, visiting a nursing home, helping with the ESL classes, working with the preschoolers, children and youth or another way you are able to serve. Find a way to serve in some way. And, as you are serving, don't just serve for the point of serving, but also tell somebody. We all have people we are connected to us who need to know the truth of the Gospel. Make it a point in 2018 to tell somebody!
