Worship

In John 4, Jesus Christ revealed a great truth of worship while speaking to a woman who believed you had to go to certain places and do certain things in order for God to accept your offering of worship. Jesus replied to her, "The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Jesus says he is not concerned with the rituals and appearance of worship, but with the heart from which true worship originates. He seeks those who will worship him with a heart entirely devoted to him. It is our prayer that God finds a multitude of such individuals at Western Avenue, worshipping Him from the depths of their hearts out of gratitude for what He has done and for the simple fact that He alone is worthy! Worship is the reason we exist, as an individual and as a church, to commune with the God who made us and loves us.

We invite you to join us on Sunday mornings for one of our two worship services. We meet at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM in the Worship Center.

While worship is so much more than just music, song is a large part of the worship experience. The music in our worship services can best be described as blended. We praise God in recognizing the heritage of the great hymns of our faith as well as new praise and worship songs being inspired today.

Our worship service is centered on the reading and preaching from God's Holy Word. Skip Cartin, our pastor, is a passionate preacher and expositor of the Bible, going verse-by-verse through books of the Bible on Sunday mornings.

We provide childcare during all our worship services for children up to 5 years of age. We have a preschool wing that offers lots of room to grow and enjoy being in God’s house. Our nursery is staffed with loving and caring men and women who provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child.

We meet for worship, prayer and preaching on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM in the Worship Center. This hour is casual and offers a variety of messages and speakers. Often, our associate church staff members teach along with qualified lay leaders and guest speakers. The messages are very practical in nature, dealing with issues and topics that are of interest to the congregation and community.
